Notable Developments
Americold delivering centralized cold chain logistics solutions to PLUS in the Netherlands Americold (NYSE: COLD) has announced an expanded partnership with PLUS, a Netherlands-based supermarket cooperative operating approximately 440 stores, to consolidate the retailer's frozen logistics operations into a single, integrated cold chain solution.
Under the agreement, Americold will manage storage, handling, and distribution of PLUS's frozen product assortment through its Barneveld distribution center, providing temperature controlled storage, inventory management, and order fulfillment across PLUS's national network.
Hans Danhof, Supply Chain Director at PLUS, noted that centralizing frozen food flow will better align logistics with the company's store network.
Andrew Mates, Managing Director at Americold Europe, highlighted the deployment of Americold's operational platform and retail expertise as central to the partnership's value.
Americold operates more than 220 temperature controlled warehouses globally, totaling approximately 1.4 billion refrigerated cubic feet. (Globe Newswire)
Constellation Cold expanding cold logistics capacity in Gothenburg Constellation Cold is developing a new cold storage facility in Gothenburg, Sweden, marking a significant expansion of its Nordic presence.
The 11,500 sqm facility will deliver approximately 38,000 pallet positions, bringing the company's total Swedish capacity to more than 47,000 pallet positions.
The project targets BREEAM Excellent certification, underscoring Constellation's commitment to sustainable, energy-efficient infrastructure.
Strategically located near key ports and major transport routes, the Gothenburg site will offer frozen, chilled, and ambient storage, along with a range of value-added services, all integrated with the company's own temperature controlled transport network to provide end-to-end cold chain connectivity across Sweden.
The facilities are BRCGS certified, operate under HACCP standards, and carry an AAA credit rating. (Constellation Cold)
Enova and GreenChill partner to bring dynamic tariffs using refrigerated trailers as on-site energy storage for cold chain operators Enova, an energy optimisation specialist, and GreenChill Systems, a clean energy solutions developer, have announced a joint solution enabling cold chain operators to use refrigerated trailers as flexible, on-site energy storage.
GreenChill's trailers are retrofitted with modular lithium battery storage, rooftop solar generation, and intelligent control systems, while retaining diesel engines as a failsafe.
The company's Power Management System integrates into depot operations, allowing parked or idle trailers to function as mobile battery units.
Enova's optimisation platform complements this by managing energy use in response to dynamic time-of-use tariffs and real-time market pricing, charging trailers when electricity is cheapest and discharging stored power during peak-cost periods.
Early deployments have demonstrated the elimination of diesel use for refrigeration and meaningful site-level electricity savings through load-shifting and peak-shaving. (Cold Chain News)
Trane Technologies acquires German Thermo King dealer TKV Trane Technologies has acquired Transport-Kälte-Vertrieb (TKV), the largest independent Thermo King and Frigoblock dealer in Germany.
Headquartered in Ulm, TKV has represented Thermo King in southern Germany for 55 years, providing sales, installation, after-sales service, maintenance, and telematics solutions for transport refrigeration units.
The acquisition expands Thermo King's transport refrigeration service network across the EMEA region and follows recent acquisitions in the UK and Belgium.
Jorge Estelle Caro, previously Thermo King Regional Director North & Central, has been appointed General Manager for TK Deutschland, while former owner Herwig Kiesling will remain with the business to support its continued growth.
Claudio Zanframundo, President of Thermo King EMEA, said the deal strengthens the company's customer support capabilities in Germany and opens new opportunities for investment in sustainable temperature controlled transport solutions across the region. (Refindustry)
Carrier Transicold to present electrified and fuel-efficient refrigeration solutions at Transpotec Logitec 2026 Carrier Transicold will showcase a range of electric, semi-electric, and high-efficiency transport refrigeration solutions at Transpotec Logitec 2026, running May 13–16 at Fiera Milano in Milan, Italy.
Key exhibits include eCool-Drive, a power converter enabling compatible diesel refrigeration units on semi-trailers to connect with fully electric tractor units by converting high-voltage direct current to alternating current.
Also on display is [R]eCool, a plug-in battery system developed with Addvolt that allows existing diesel-powered semi-trailers to convert to hybrid or fully electric operation, featuring a battery pack with an expected service life of more than 12 years.
Carrier Transicold will additionally present the latest enhancements to its Lynx Fleet telematics platform, which provides operators with visibility into fleet performance, energy, and refrigerant-related metrics throughout equipment lifecycle. (Carrier Transicold)
