Emergent Cold LatAm completes acquisition in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil Emergent Cold Latin America, the largest provider of refrigerated storage and logistics solutions in the region, has completed the acquisition of a facility in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

  • The transaction was first announced on September 12, 2023, and the acquisition was closed on January 29, 2024.

  • The facility is located in Duque de Caxias, in the metropolitan area of Rio de Janeiro, which is a crucial distribution point for the entire region.

  • The facility spans nearly 45,000 square meters across two warehouses, along with a dedicated truck yard.

  • This is one of five major projects planned for Brazil by Emergent Cold LatAm.

  • Emergent Cold LatAm was founded in August 2021 to address the need for modern cold chain solutions in the market. It has since become the fastest-growing cold storage logistics operator in Latin America. (link)

Sunswap goes pan-European following a major deal with Netherlands-based TIP Group Sunswap, a UK-based provider of zero-emission refrigerated trailers, has announced a major deal with the Netherlands-based TIP Group, marking its expansion into the European market.

  • The partnership with TIP Group, a leading equipment services provider operating across 18 countries, is a significant step in Sunswap's growth strategy.

  • TIP Group has placed a minimum order of 20 Endurance Transport Refrigeration Units (TRUs) from Sunswap, expanding their existing partnership.

  • Sunswap's refrigeration system is unique in that it offers a viable alternative to diesel-powered systems, both operationally and environmentally. The company's technology is based on solar and battery power, which aligns with the industry's increasing focus on sustainability.

  • Sunswap plans to ramp up production in 2024, with the team eager to equip more European trailers with their technology. (link)

ARCO National Construction begins production of RealCold's modern cold chain network expansion ARCO National Construction is partnering with RealCold, an affiliate of Related Fund Management (RFM), on a national expansion of its cold storage logistics business.

  • The expansion includes the construction of two new facilities in Lakeland, Florida, and Lockhart, Texas, with ARCO National Construction providing design-build services for these projects.

  • These facilities, measuring 377,317 and 310,000 square feet respectively, are strategically located to offer next-day delivery to over ten major markets.

  • The completion of these facilities is anticipated in the first quarter of 2025.

  • This expansion is part of RealCold's strategy to address the needs of the nation's aging cold chain infrastructure by developing state-of-the-art facilities in consumption-driven markets.

  • The initiative is expected to significantly contribute to the modernization and efficiency of the cold chain logistics industry in the United States. (link)

  • Barrie Javens has been appointed as the new Managing Director, replacing Neale Brothwood, who has decided to step down from the position.

  • Brothwood will continue to serve the company in a directorship capacity.

  • Javens brings a wealth of logistics industry and consulting experience to his new role, and he is committed to building on the strong foundation laid by his predecessor.
