Tesco first with CO2/R1270 refrigerated truck Tesco has become the first company in the UK to deploy refrigerated trucks that utilize a cutting-edge refrigeration unit powered by CO2 and R1270.

  • This initiative is a collaboration between Tesco, British temperature-controlled vehicle manufacturer Gray & Adams, and German company Ecooltec Grosskopf GmbH.

  • The trucks are equipped with Ecooltec's TM182 transport refrigeration system, which is purely electrically powered..

  • The refrigerated trucks feature a multi-temp box body that allows for the creation of two separate compartments. This design accommodates both frozen and fresh products simultaneously.

  • The trucks operate with zero local pollutants and CO2 emissions when running on batteries and produce up to 98% fewer emissions than diesel-powered systems. (link)

Hydropac unveils ice pack solution for pet food cold chain logistics
Hydropac, a provider of temperature-controlled packaging solutions, has introduced a new ice pack sealing technology aimed at enhancing the cold chain logistics of pet food.

  • This innovation is designed to maintain consistent temperatures during transportation, which is essential for preserving the nutritional value and freshness of pet food.

  • Traditional ice packs, often tubes filled with liquid coolant, can lead to uneven cooling and are prone to leaks and condensation. These issues can damage packaging and compromise the integrity of the product.

  • Hydropac's new ice packs feature a two-layer material construction that is sealed on all four sides, creating multiple internal pockets. This design ensures even cooling throughout the pet food container and offers several key advantages.

  • These include enhanced insulation to protect against temperature fluctuations, extended cooling duration suitable for long-distance deliveries, and superior leak resistance that prevents contamination of both the packaging and the pet food. (link)
