GXO completes acquisition of Wincanton GXO Logistics, Inc., the world's largest pure-play contract logistics provider, has completed the acquisition of Wincanton plc, a prominent UK logistics company.

  • This acquisition is part of GXO's strategy to expand its service offerings and customer base in key strategic growth sectors in the UK, such as Aerospace, Utilities, Industrial, and Healthcare.

  • The integration of Wincanton’s expertise and infrastructure with GXO’s global reach and technology is expected to enhance the combined entity's efficiency, productivity, and service range, providing significant value to both new and existing customers.

  • Both companies will continue to operate independently until the UK Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) completes its review of the acquisition.

  • GXO’s CEO, Malcolm Wilson, expressed enthusiasm about the acquisition, noting that it marks a significant step in GXO’s growth trajectory and its ability to offer more comprehensive logistics solutions across various geographies. (link)

Americold breaks ground on first cold storage facility at CPKC Terminal Americold Realty Trust, Inc. has initiated construction of a new $127M cold storage facility at the Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) IFG Terminal in Kansas City, Missouri.

  • The facility spans 335,000 square feet and represents a strategic partnership between Americold and CPKC, aiming to integrate cold storage solutions with CPKC’s extensive rail network.

  • This collaboration marks the first of its kind under the two companies' agreement to establish Americold warehouse facilities along the CPKC network.

  • The facility will support CPKC’s Mexico Midwest Express service, which is the only single-line rail service connecting the U.S. Midwest to Mexico.

  • This project is part of a broader strategy to create a new refrigerated supply chain that leverages CPKC’s cross-border capabilities and Americold’s expertise in cold storage. (link)

Emergent Cold LatAm opens Chile’s largest frozen food warehouse The new facility, strategically located in the San Bernardo area of Santiago, is designed to support the growing demand for cold storage solutions in the region.

  • The warehouse boasts an impressive capacity of 37,000 pallets, making it a pivotal hub for the storage and distribution of frozen food products across Chile and beyond.

  • By leveraging advanced technology and efficient logistics, Emergent Cold LatAm aims to provide superior cold chain solutions that ensure the safe and effective transportation and storage of perishable goods.

  • The new warehouse is expected to play a crucial role in meeting the increasing demand for frozen food storage, thereby supporting the food industry's supply chain needs in Chile and Latin America. (link)
