🧊 Emergent Cold LatAm expands its operations in Colombia

Emergent Cold LatAm expands its operations in Colombia Emergent Cold LatAm, the largest provider of temperature-controlled storage and logistics solutions in Latin America, is expanding its storage infrastructure in Colombia by adding 22,000 new pallet positions.

  • The expansion consists of two projects: constructing a new warehouse in Cartagena with a capacity of 9,000 pallets for chilled and frozen foods, located in the Parque Central Free Trade Zone, and expanding a recently acquired facility in Funza, near Bogotá, to add 13,000 pallet positions.

  • Alain Eichmann, Managing Director for the Caribbean region, highlighted the strategic importance of Bogotá and Cartagena due to their metropolitan significance and major port facilities.

  • Emergent Cold LatAm began operations in Colombia in 2022 by acquiring Frigometro and expanded that same year with a warehouse in Girón.

  • In 2024, the company acquired Red Polar, increasing its operations to five warehouses in Bogotá, Bucaramanga, Buga, and Cartagena, demonstrating its commitment to Colombia's economic development and logistical infrastructure. (link)

Nordic Cold Chain Solutions acquires Minus Works Nordic Cold Chain Solutions has acquired Minus Works Inc., a US-based manufacturing company specializing in sustainable cold chain products and research and development.

  • Along with the acquisition, Nordic is building a new manufacturing facility in Pottstown, Pennsylvania, expanding its operations in Reno, Nevada, and taking control of the Minus Works facility in Long Island, New York.

  • These expansions aim to scale Minus Works' innovative technology, which includes compostable, leak-proof gel packs encapsulated in recyclable paper and a proprietary freezing process that reduces freeze time and carbon footprint.

  • This technology offers a sustainable alternative to single-use plastics in cold chain packaging, aligning with Nordic's commitment to sustainability and innovation.

  • Andy Bolton, CEO of Nordic Cold Chain Solutions, stated that these steps enhance their mission to provide sustainable, high-performance solutions while reducing environmental impact. (link)

Significant new pharmaceutical contract for refrigeration experts Petit Forestier Petit Forestier, a leading refrigerated vehicle supplier, has secured a significant new partnership with Mawdsleys, the UK's largest independent pharmaceutical distributor.

  • Over the next three years, Petit Forestier will supply Mawdsleys with 69 refrigerated vehicles, including fully-liveried panel vans and box vans from leading brands like Ford and Mercedes.

  • This deal will help Mawdsleys, a Manchester-based company operating for nearly 200 years, maintain its high service levels in supplying vital medicines to hospitals and healthcare providers across the UK.

  • Emma Dutton, Senior Marketing Manager at Mawdsleys, emphasized the importance of dependable cold chain logistics and praised Petit Forestier's extensive depot network and 24/7 roadside assistance.

  • Craig Welborn, Head of National Accounts at Petit Forestier, expressed excitement about the partnership, noting that it allows them to expand their service offering into the pharmaceutical sector. (link)
