Cold Chain Technologies acquires Tower Cold Chain Cold Chain Technologies (CCT), a global leader in thermal packaging and digital monitoring solutions for life sciences products, has acquired Tower Cold Chain, a provider of reusable temperature-controlled containers.
Tower, founded in 1999 and headquartered in the UK, supports pharmaceutical and life sciences customers worldwide with a network of over 20 service hubs across five continents.
This acquisition strengthens CCT's position in the market by expanding its product portfolio and global service capabilities.
CCT's CEO, Ranjeet Banerjee, praised Tower's advanced cold chain solutions and looks forward to offering new products to clients.
Tower's CEO, Niall Balfour, sees this partnership as a means to accelerate growth.
This marks CCT's fourth acquisition since partnering with Aurora Capital Partners in 2019, as part of its expansion into sustainable packaging, digital solutions, and global manufacturing. (link)
Sensitech and Qualcomm collaborate to develop connected technologies Sensitech and Qualcomm Technologies have formed a strategic partnership to advance real-time monitoring solutions for the global cold chain industry.
By combining their strengths, the companies aim to enhance visibility, connectivity, and analytics in cold chain logistics.
Bhasker Kaushal, VP at Sensitech and Carrier, emphasized the importance of collaboration in digitizing and connecting supply chains, noting the partnership will improve real-time monitoring, intelligence, and device energy efficiency.
Qualcomm will contribute its Qualcomm Aware Platform to boost Sensitech’s real-time monitoring products, including the TempTale GEO X, used for life sciences shipments.
Nakul Duggal, of Qualcomm Technologies, highlighted the collaboration’s focus on enhancing precision and reliability in cold chain shipments.
The partnership will also integrate these technologies into Carrier's Lynx ecosystem, pushing forward cold chain visibility innovations. (link)
TIP begins trials of carbon zero fridge power system TIP is testing innovative axle energy recuperation technology aimed at providing zero-emission refrigeration power in the cold chain sector.
The system, known as the "e-axle," generates electricity by recovering energy during braking or downhill driving, which is stored in a battery.
This battery then powers the trailer's refrigeration unit through an energy management system that optimizes efficiency.
Developed in collaboration with Thermo King and BPW, the AxlePower system is currently being trialed in real-life operations with TIP’s customers.
The refrigerated trailer, or "e-reefer," will allow clients to evaluate the system’s performance and its potential to meet both operational and business needs.
Mike Furnival, Managing Director of TIP UK & Ireland, expressed excitement about the trial, emphasizing TIP’s ongoing commitment to exploring sustainable technologies that could transform the temperature-controlled transport industry. (link)
