UK cold storage market shifts to development phase The UK cold storage market, Europe's largest with 3.4 million pallets, faces a supply shortage despite significant capacity.
This imbalance stems from outdated facilities, with 70% of stock being over 20 years old.

New refrigerant regulations are accelerating obsolescence, particularly affecting smaller operators who struggle with upgrade costs.
Industry solutions include consolidation through acquisitions and increased development activity, with 92,000 new pallets expected in 2025/26 and 457,700 in pre-planning.
However, even with this pipeline, supply challenges will persist if facilities over 30 years old become obsolete.

Automation is transforming new developments, with 91% of upcoming stock featuring automation technology, though this requires larger facilities (50,000+ pallets) to be economically viable due to costs 2.5-3 times higher than standard industrial developments. (CBRE)
Cooling the last mile: Jeebly launches cold chain logistics Jeebly, a leading logistics provider in the Middle East, has launched its cold chain logistics service in April 2025, expanding its offerings to include temperature-controlled deliveries.
Jeebly’s cold chain logistics features a fleet of refrigerated vehicles, dedicated cold storage hubs, and advanced thermal packaging to ensure product integrity throughout the delivery process.
The company offers rapid delivery times, with some shipments arriving in as little as 120 minutes, and provides customers with the flexibility to choose their preferred delivery dates and times.
Jeebly’s CEO, Raman Pathak, emphasized that this move aligns with the company’s strategy to leverage technology and scalable solutions to support both B2B and B2C clients.
The launch positions Jeebly as a key player in the growing cold chain market in the UAE and the region. (Logistics Middle East)
CtrlChain and NewCold are developing a cold storage and transportation solution CtrlChain and NewCold are strengthening their partnership to develop an integrated, technology-driven solution for the cold storage and transportation industry.
The partnership centralizes data from all supply chain stakeholders onto a single platform, enabling end-to-end operational management and improved resilience.
The solution addresses the inefficiencies created by fragmented logistics tools that hinder proactive management of capacity, demand shifts, regulatory compliance, and disruptions.
By creating a unified ecosystem that integrates warehousing, transportation, and digital systems, the companies enhance visibility and decision-making capabilities.
Their connected platform combines transportation management systems, real-time data, and a control tower for complete operational visibility, enabling smarter route optimization, inventory management, and cost control. (Logistics Business)
SpotSee acquires Telatemp, strengthening life science offering SpotSee, a global leader in condition monitoring solutions, has acquired Telatemp, a provider of temperature and environmental monitoring devices.
As part of the integration, the Telatemp brand will be retired, with all products consolidated under the SpotSee brand.
A key addition from the acquisition is ColdSnap, Telatemp's descending time-over-temperature indicator widely used in pharmaceutical and laboratory applications where freezing can damage injectable medicines or tissues like heart valves.
Through SpotSee's global distribution network, ColdSnap will be made available to customers worldwide, ensuring a seamless transition in ordering and support.
SpotSee serves over 4,500 customers in 62 countries with monitoring solutions for temperature, impact, tilt, vibration, humidity, and liquid detection. (Globe Newswire)
