Emergent Cold LatAm secures $250M financing for growth Emergent Cold LatAm, Latin America's leading temperature-controlled food storage and logistics provider, has successfully closed a $250 million term loan credit facility.
The financing was led by CPPIB Credit Investments Inc., a subsidiary of Canada Pension Plan Investment Board, with Deutsche Bank AG serving as the sole arranger.
The company plans to use the net proceeds to fund strategic acquisitions and development projects as part of its ambitious growth strategy.
CFO Pedro Moreira emphasized that the new funding will support the implementation of their strategic expansion plan while establishing valuable partnerships with CPP Investments and other syndicate members.

Phononic partners with Peltier for cold chain technology commercialization Phononic, the leading solid-state cooling technology company, has signed an exclusive cold chain licensing agreement with startup Peltier Technology, Inc. to commercialize Phononic's Active Cooling Solutions (ACSâ„¢) platform.
Founded by entrepreneur Hanson Li, Peltier aims to address critical inefficiencies in the cold chain, where 20% of food and drugs and up to 50% of vaccines are wasted annually despite billions in global investment.
Peltier will leverage Phononic's established ACS platform, which includes merchandising refrigerators, portable totes, IoT connectivity, and logistics solutions, to deliver smart modular refrigeration systems.
These solutions target vulnerable points in the cold chain, from fulfilment centres to last-mile delivery, enabling flexible temperature control for grocery operations and automated warehouse systems.
Phononic's ACS platform has already proven valuable in protecting temperature-sensitive pharmaceuticals, enabling frozen food delivery, and scaling retail e-commerce capabilities, positioning this collaboration to transform an industry "frozen in time." (Globe Newswire)
Haryana launches fast-track Centre for Sustainable Cold Chain Excellence The Indian state of Haryana has approved the first phase of its ambitious £10.2 million Haryana-UK Centre of Excellence on Sustainable Crop Post-harvest Management & Cold-Chain (CoE-SPMCC).
The initial £727,000 "mini centre of excellence" will provide cutting-edge training facilities and demonstration labs to accelerate sustainable cooling adoption while helping Indian farmers reduce post-harvest losses.
The facility will feature a refrigeration training block offering hands-on learning in refrigerant handling, energy performance testing, and solar energy applications, plus telemetric labs for advanced technical training.
Funded by Haryana's government with technical support from UK's Defra and UNEP, the project is led by University of Birmingham's Professor Toby Peters alongside a consortium including Heriot-Watt, Cranfield, and London South Bank universities.
Officials emphasize the centre's role in enhancing farmers' incomes, improving national food security, and creating skilled workforce capabilities for sustainable cold chain solutions across India's horticultural value chain. (University of Birmingham)
American Airlines Cargo upgrades ExpediteTC with 24/7 live tracking American Airlines Cargo has enhanced its ExpediteTC service, a specialized cold-chain solution for temperature-sensitive pharmaceuticals and biologics, responding to rising global demand in life sciences logistics.
The major upgrade introduces 24/7 live tracking and monitoring for shipments in active temperature-controlled units, providing continuous oversight and enabling proactive intervention during disruptions.
American Airlines Cargo's flagship life sciences facility at Philadelphia International Airport anchors the network.
The 25,000 sq ft CEIV-certified facility features specialized temperature environments, ranging from controlled room temperature (+15°C to +25°C) to deep-frozen storage (-10°C to -20°C).
The network extends across 30 CEIV or GDP-certified stations globally, serving over 150 cities in 46 countries with both active and passive temperature-controlled solutions for critical shipments. (American Airlines Cargo)
