Americold opens flagship cold storage facility in Dubai Americold, a global temperature-controlled logistics leader, has opened a major cold storage facility in Dubai's Jebel Ali Free Zone through its joint venture RSA Cold Chain and partnership with DP World.

  • The facility represents Americold's largest Middle East operation and serves as a critical import-export hub connecting global food producers to Gulf Cooperation Council markets.

  • The facility offers 40,000 pallet positions with multi-temperature capabilities, both bonded and non-bonded storage, 27 docks, and smart monitoring systems.

  • It features energy-efficient rooftop solar panels and provides direct road access to mainland UAE.

  • The facility expands Americold's global cold chain ecosystem, which now includes strategic import-export hubs in Kansas City, Port Saint John, and Dubai, with additional developments planned. (Americold)

Emergent Cold Latin America acquires distribution warehouse in Lima Emergent Cold LatAm, Latin America's largest temperature-controlled food storage and logistics provider, has completed the acquisition of a distribution warehouse in Lima's Lurín district, Peru.

  • The facility spans more than 29,000 sq m of built area and represents a strategic expansion of the company's Peruvian cold storage network in this key metropolitan market.

  • The acquired warehouse is partially occupied by Frialsa Peru, which Emergent Cold LatAm purchased earlier in 2025, while the remaining space is leased to established food distribution companies.

  • This acquisition advances the company's ambitious infrastructure investment strategy in Peru, where it now owns and operates four facilities.

  • These facilities support both port operations and domestic food distribution, complemented by the company's transportation services. (Emergent Cold LatAm)

Sadel Group to build new automated cold store in Bristol Sadel Group has announced plans to construct a new 90,000 pallet, fully automated frozen cold store in Bristol, addressing a significant infrastructure gap in Southwest England's food supply chain.

  • The facility will be strategically located at the junction of the M4 and M5 motorways, providing rapid access to South Wales and Southwest England markets.

  • The new facility, to be operated by Magnavale Ltd under the name Magnavale Bristol, will serve both new and existing customers with cutting-edge refrigeration technology, advanced automation, and dynamic mezzanine floors.

  • These features will support various value-added services including picking, packing, date coding, and export handling.

  • The Bristol development follows Magnavale's recent completion of a 25,000-pallet expansion at their Chesterfield site and a 101,000-pallet automated facility in Easton, Lincolnshire. (BFFF)

Willog and Indonesia Cold-Chain Association partner to modernize cold-chain infrastructure South Korean logistics technology company Willog has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Indonesian Cold Chain Association to modernize Indonesia's cold chain infrastructure using advanced IoT and AI solutions.

  • The partnership supports Indonesia's National Logistics Ecosystem initiative and the country's 'Golden Indonesia 2045' vision through Willog's proven 'K-Logistics' expertise.

  • Indonesia's challenging geography of approximately 17,000 islands makes logistics modernization a critical government priority, particularly as the cold chain industry experiences rapid growth.

  • Willog will deploy real-time monitoring solutions that track environmental factors like temperature and impact, reducing risks and costs while ensuring data transparency and building business trust.

  • Willog's technology has proven successful in South Korea, where it serves leading logistics corporations and government entities including the ROK Army. (PR Newswire)

DP World's $29M bet on Egypt's cold storage DP World has announced a $29 million investment to build a state-of-the-art cold storage facility in Egypt's Al Oula region, addressing critical infrastructure gaps in Africa's food supply chain.

  • The 174,311 sq ft warehouse will be constructed within the Elsewedy Industrial Park, featuring eight temperature-controlled chambers with capacity for 25,000 pallet positions to store refrigerated and frozen goods, fruits, vegetables, and dairy products.

  • Africa's food storage infrastructure currently covers less than 30% of annual production, contributing to severe post-harvest losses of nearly 40% for perishable goods and 20% for other food products.

  • According to Mohammad Shihab, DP World Egypt's general manager, the project represents "a major step in strengthening Egypt's cold chain capabilities."

  • The facility's success will depend on operational efficiency, power reliability, maintenance, transportation linkages, and workforce development. (FreightWaves)
